Albert Milton Riss
Albert M. Riss
Albert Milton Riss served honorably in the WWII Naval Armed Guard Service. He
earned the American Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, European
African Middle Eastern Theater Medal with one star and the Victory Medal. Albert
received his boot training at USNTC at Newport, RI and gunnery training at the
Armed Guard School at Little Creek, Virginia and was then assigned to the Naval
Armed Guard Center at Brooklyn, NY. He served on the SS Samuel Adams and was then
hospitalized briefly at the US Navy Dispensary in Palermo, Italy, USN Mobile
Hospital, Oran, Algeria and US Navy Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He was then assigned
to the SS Java and finally to the USS Henry W. Tucker. He was discharged 16 February 1946
as a Seaman First Class and returned home to Stanford, Ct.
