Bob Garrett

In Honor of Bob Garrett

Bob Garrett served as a gunner in the WWII US Navy Armed Guard and was
assigned to:
SS John Sharp Williams 06/43 – 08/43
SS Dean Emery 11/43 – 04/44
SS John C Spencer 11/44 – 11/44
SS Noonday 12/44 – 02/45
SS Jonathan Edwards 05/45 – 05/45
SS John Fitch 06/45 – 09/45

Bob was transferred to Treasure Island and traveled by troop train and boarded
the SS John Fitch and was aboard the Fitch when the war ended with Japan and
was at Ulithi Atoll at the time. Most of the gun crew was transferred to the
troop transport USS Zielin and passed under the Golden Gate Bridge on 14
November 1945 at 1301 hours.
