This information on Edward Franklin Freeman, Jr. was furnished by his son, Jeffrey L. Freeman. Edward was aboard the SS Cripple Creek when it was sunk August 13, 1942, as a Gunners Mate 2/C. He spent several days in a lifeboat before being rescued by a British ship. A sinking report is shown in two screens below. Edward made a letter opener from a piece of his lifeboat that he obtained before the lifeboat was destroyed and Jeffrey still has it.
