Harry "Melody Jones" Jones
Harry "Jonesy" Jones
Harry Jones served honorably in the WWII US Navy Armed Guard Service. Harry was a happy go lucky sort of guy, always full of life, smiling, friendly and well liked, but ready for duty when called upon. He had many friends and enjoyed his tour in the Navy. His friends included Willis Turner, Merris Sandlin, Alvin Eagleton (Reds), Edward Kaiser, Emery Caron and many more. After his hitch in the Navy, Harry returned to his home in Colliers, West Virginia, where he was a member of a family of thirteen children. One of his sisters introduced him to his future wife, Mary. They were married February 3, 1949 and had three children. He worked for the Wheeling Steel Corporation. His daughter, Shirley, provided this information and the pictures below. If you knew Harry, email her at WEDDEW9@WEBTV.NET. Unfortunately, Harry had a massive heart attack and passed away 12 December 1976, when only 56 years old, the prime of life. |
