Joe Szymusiak served in the WWII US Navy Armed Guard under his boxing name
of Joe J Lyons. Joe lost his life fighting for his country. The official
reports and the sinking report on his ship, the SS Pierre Gibault are shown
below. This page is a tiny tribute to a man who fought both as a boxer and
as a member of the WWII US Navy Armed Guard. The need for this page was brought
