The SS Henry Bergh ran aground and sank off the rocky shoals of the Farallon Islands 31 May 1944. Pat D Ward was a Navy passenger on that ship and he and three of his friends saved the life of a Merchant Marine crew member that day. Pat passed away 19 February 2005 and was buried in Wilson, Oklahoma.
