Paul L Milliken

Paul L Milliken served in the Navy Armed Guard and served on the
SS JANE G SWISSHELM. In June 1944 he participated in the invasion
of Normandy, went back to Southhampton and it was almost leveled
from buzz bombs. They picked up supplies and also went to Omaha Beach,
Utah and Lahara and then back to Southhampton and joined a convoy back
to the states.. that convoy lost 13 ships to a bad storm… they were
going to the Brooklyn Armed Guard Center.

The Jane G Swisshelm was supposed to have been part of the biggest
convoy to leave the states. They went to Wales, Ireland and England and
then joined the convoy for the Normandy invasion..

Paul died recently. He lived in Coquille, OR with his wife Hilda. He was
