**** WELCOME BACK ON BOARD WITH THE ARMED GUARD FAMILY****
Let me explain briefly!! Our first National Reunion as we know it today started
in Winchester, Ky. with 52 Armed Guard and their ladies in attendance. I saw
the need to compile the NAMES, ADDRESS and SHIPS as above to help locate
shipmates that served together. We have held our Reunions since in Wilmington,
N.C.; Austin, Tx.; Norfolk, Va.(2); San Francisco, Ca.; Kansas City, Mo.;
Toledo, Oh.; Seattle, Wa.; Chicago, Il.; Baltimore, Md.; New Orleans, La.;Las
Vegas, Nv. (3) in `93,99 and 2002; Orlando, Fl.; San Diego, Ca.; St. Louis, Mo.
Alexandria, Va.; Bloomington, Mn.; Buffalo, NY, VA Beach, VA.;Mobile, AL.;
L.A.,CA, . We have located 21516 as of today. 7/29/05. The Number at the top,
is your Number. Number behind name is the year donated. If you are New Ol`Salt
just coming aboard. Watch the number rise!
Help us reach as many as we can before we all take that Final Voyage. At our
First Reunion, a few men met to discuss holding a Reunion EACH YEAR and each
would pay his share and there would no dues. We have operated since then on
voluntary donations of his own Free Will and Accord to keep us afloat. It has
worked so far!! All donations goes strictly to the operating of Armed Guard
expenses only. No one is on a salary. Monies go for Computers, Office Material,
Printing of the POINTER, Postage etc. We operate with a NON-PROFIT STATUS with a
Tax Exempt IRS No. 74-2316668 for cheaper mailing priviledge. Each POINTER
mailing costs approx $11,000.00 to over 14,500 still on the mailing list.
I need all the help that I can get. I will do what I have to do, as long as I
am able. I can assure you that all Donations are used for the Armed Guard
Expenses only. I send out a packet of material and back copies of POINTERs for
your enjoyment. I don’t remove anyone from the mailing list regardless whether
he donates or not, unless he designates it. This has been my policy since we
started as some cannot afford to donate, but may be a shipmate someone is
