In late March or early April, 1945, Bill McRobert was in Manila Bay and went aboard a sunken (or scuddled) Japanese Ship. While going from room to room he found a Japanese newspaper and this post card. Over the next 56 years he often wondered what the post card said. In the fall of 2001 he met Tom Kermen at the American Legion Post 104 in Aloha, Oregon. Tom asked to copy the post card and try to find someone to translate it, which he did. A friend where Tom works knows a retired Japanese businessman who determined the address in Japan was still valid. The original post card was finally on it's way along with a letter from Bill McRobert and pictures of himself. Bill has been advised that he is to receive a reply shortly along with a picture and information about the Japanese sailor who had wriiten the post card. He had survived the war, but evidently has passed away within the past 10 years sometime. Bill and and Tom are like two little kids before Christmas awaiting the response. (Be thankful that Bill wasn't handling your V-mail)
